JUDGING

Great feedback and fairly balanced judges are the most important things for a good debate tournament. Therefore, we are going to subsidize extraordinary judges from Europe to increase the quality of debating as we did before. If you want to participate, please contact us.

UNIVERSITY&CLUB

Yeditepe University (translated as the Seven Hills) is the biggest private university in the country. It has a population of 15.000 and it is located within the city as a metropolitan university. Yeditepe Debate Club is one of the leading debate clubs in Turkey with more than 100 members. The club gained several successes both in and out of Turkey and organised the biggest Turkish nationals ever with 104 teams.

Durham IV 2008 Motions

Motions used in the tournament were as follows:
Round 1- THW allow the sale of lifetime seats in the House of Lords
Round 2- THW prohibit parents from involving their children in any religious ceremony until the age of consent
Round 3- THW not allow sovereign wealth funds to invest in important national industries
Round 4- THW grant bounty hunters full immunity for all crimes committed in bringing international fugitives to justice
Round 5- THW allow state employees to be members of extreme political parties

Semi
THB that the US government should immediately make an unequivocal policy commitment stating that in the event of a significant terrorist attack on US interests which is credibly shown to have been perpetrated by Islamic extremists, it will carpet bomb Mecca

Final
THW use humilition in the stocks as punishment for those guilty of crimes involving anti-social behaviour.
